Mayo upset in USTA singles but gains doubles final

   The last Northern California juniors were eliminated from singles in the USTA National Winter Championships in Arizona, but a NorCal player is guaranteed to win a doubles title.
   Top-seeded Aidan Mayo of Roseville lost to fourth-seeded Niroop Vallabhaneni of Paradise Valley, Ariz., 7-5, 6-4 on Thursday in the boys 12 semifinals in Tucson, Ariz.
   Meanwhile, 17th-seeded Austen Huang of Elk Grove fell to fourth-seeded Timothy Sah of San Diego 6-4, 5-1, retired (injury) in the boys 16 quarterfinals in Scottsdale, Ariz.
   In the boys 12 doubles final, top-seeded Mayo and Billy Suarez of Huntington, N.Y., will face third-seeded Hunter Heck of New Brighton, Minn., and Karl Lee of Los Altos.
   Mayo and Suarez outlasted fourth-seeded Hugo Hashimoto of San Jose and Alex Lin of Granite Bay 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Heck and Lee dominated ninth-seeded Vishwa Aduru of Austin, Texas, and Phillip Deaton of Auburn, Wash., 6-1, 6-3.
